Bushkill Park Skating Rink first opened in 1902. We are the 2nd oldest roller skating rink in the country! Our building is filled with a nostalgic vibe mixed with modern-day technology. Bushkill Park values family time, and we encourage everyone to take an afternoon or evening to come together and have fun.

Fun Facts

The original building was built as a dance hall for the opening season in 1902. It was extended a year later. Skating was first brought into Bushkill Park's Dance Hall in 1904.


The original building burned in February of 1928 and was rebuilt half size the following year. They decided that the rink was needed to be brought back at the current size in 1928 because the trolley companies were failing; stock market crash/Great Depression were both factors in this).

According to a study conducted at the University of Massachusetts, skating causes less than 50 percent of the impact shock to joints compared to running. In other words, an aerobic roller skating workout has the same benefit as the same amount of time spent jogging, only without the joint damage.

Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits and caloric consumption, reduction of body fat, and leg strength development. So if you’re an athlete and you’re looking for an activity to keep you in shape during the offseason, pick up a pair of roller skates!

According to research conducted at the Universitat Konstantx, moderate roller skating increases a skater’s heart rate to levels ranging from 140 to 160 beats per minute, while skating at top speeds can increase heart rate up to around 180 beats per minute.

In addition to increasing muscle strength, roller skating can help increase muscle endurance. Adding a few uphill climbs to each skating session trains your muscles, along with your cardiovascular system, to use the body’s energy stores more efficiently.
